Scott D. Moore Law Office, P.C.

For over twenty five years, Scott Moore has practiced law in both New York and Pennsylvania. After graduating from law school at the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1989, Scott worked as an assistant public defender for two years, representing people charged with various crimes in trials and appeals. While Scott tried many jury cases, the most interesting challenge was arguing before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the highest court in the state.

Scott next worked for a Harrisburg law firm, Mette, Evans and Woodside, handling the defense of personal injury matters from automobile accidents to product liability cases. Working in a large law firm gave Scott the opportunity to represent businesses in construction contract disputes with the state, employment discrimination claims and continue some criminal defense work.

Scott's next job was back in Carlisle working for a small general practice firm still handling litigation but now from a plaintiff's perspective. Scott handled his first AAA arbitration representing a business woman sued in a business dispute. Real estate mortgage closings became a part of his practice as well as estate matters.

In 1999 Scott returned to his hometown of Elmira, New York to join Denton, Keyser, LaBrecque and Moore, a long-established local law firm. Scott continued to develop new areas of practice becoming more involved in the transactional side of the practice. Real estate closings for individuals, businesses and banks became a large part of his practice. He has handled the purchase and sale of businesses and has represented them in contract and employment matters. He continued to work in the court room and served as an assistant district attorney from 1999 to 2011. The Town of Elmira hired Scott in 2002 to serve as the Town Attorney, a position which he still holds.

On January 1, 2014, Scott opened his own practice in the Riverside Suites Building in Elmira, New York and continues to work on a variety of legal topics.

Scott has volunteered with a variety of community organizations including Tanglewood Nature Center, Glove House, Chemung County YMCA, Chemung County Chamber of Commerce, and Southern Tier Economic Growth. He also served on the Elmira City School Board for nine years.

Scott lives in Elmira with his family.
